Good times in Buffalo NY!
Hi friends,
Its the start of a brand new week! Hope your weekend rocked : )
I spent mine in Buffalo NY at the Christian Musicians Summit. It was organized by Bruce, Matt and Rick who are all dear friends of mine. So we all had a blast!
I led worship tonight, then got to catch up with my friend Paul Baloche and the Matt Maher band who were also playing here (photos above...)
We were hungry after the conference session ended, so I went out with the Matt Maher guys in a van, to search for and eat Buffalo Wings. It was one of my first ever Buffalo Wings experiences, as they dont exist in England! I was pleased to discover that (1) there is no buffalo meat in them despite the name (2) that Buffalo's do not have wings in America (3) that was I actually got served was just good ole' chicken. Ha : )
It was a great weekend! Thanks to all who came to my teaching seminar and to my slot in the worship concert. Flying back to Nashville in the morning...
God really touched my heart today with an even greater passion for our worship to be far more than songs. A new friend of mine Rick Thompson shared a powerful story with me about a homeless guy that he met recently, and how God had used Rick to reach out to the guy and help him. By offering simple things like a meal, a shower and a place to stay God poured His love through Rick into the homeless guy's life. It was a powerful reminder than worship needs to be lived out in very practical ways - that we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus. If we won't, then no one will, as we are the Body of Christ on earth. I want to do the same and follow Rick's example of reaching out to those in need in simple, daily ways. Thats the kind of worship God desires from us!
Ok, on a lighter note, having just returned from my late night Wing Eating trip, heres a question for you....
"It's midnight and you are hungry... what's your late night snack of choice?? Are you a cereal addict, or a call-for-pizza dude, or a healthy "no I really shouldn't... " health legend?!"
Vicky
late night meal: If I want to go somewhere other than my house, IHOP or Waffle House which are both .07 miles from my front door.
if a stay at home late night meal: anything that is an instant 'eat'. I don't want to have to fix or cook it...just eat it.

I love cereal - Extra Raisin Raisin Bran!!
Even though pizza is always good - can't do the late night junk anymore. It's an age thing I guess.

well, for the last three days i have gone to 3 different places for a late night meal. Thursday me and a few friends went to the Waffle House. Than on Friday night after seeing a late showing of Narnia: Prince Caspin we went to the Huddle House. And last night around 3am we decided to go to Denny's. All pretty amazing late night food. Another amazing place is Taco Bell to get your "fourth meal"!
as you can tell im all for the late night meals. haha

Whatever is cheap and easy... Usually PB&J or a nice bowl of granola. If I'm really hungry late I'll eat a hard boiled egg. Not really as enjoyable as a piece of pizza, but filling and high in protein. It's only fun to go out late to eat if your with someone, and I live alone, so that's not happening very often.

Wow. Paul Baloche and Matt Maher. Two of my favorite artists. It'd be great if I could meet them (or you!) sometime. Maybe one day... :]
When I'm hungry past midnight, I usually think of food but (being lazy) procrastinate actually getting the food; many times I go to bed hungry. :P

Sounds like Joel could be a poster child for some ministry to the down-and-out... :o)
I'm no "health legend." I'm afraid I can hardly *spell* "no, I really shouldn't." However, since I've rounded the corner into my thirties, I find I do actually have to watch what I eat now - to some extent.
Late-night snack tonight was chow mein followed by a can of peaches. I don't remember what I ate the rest of this past week...

I would eat Cherios or bread and cheese

Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter, right out of the jar. However last week I bought my wife a treat for Mother's Day and we each had a pint of Ben and Jerry's. I bought her "Half-Baked", which was 1/2 Fudge Brownie and 1/2 Cookie Dough and I had "Karamel Sutra", which is "A Core of Soft Caramel Encircled by Chocolate & Caramel Ice Creams & Fudge Chips". http://www.icecreamsource.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=IBJ195

I'm trying not to gain too much weight this pregnancy, so I'm pretending to be a health freak... (not working very well)
Yesterday, for the joy of my husband I had a bowl of pickles.. hahaha somehow he thinks that since I'm pregnant I should want to eat pickles. Two pregnancies later his dreams came true. It was also the first bowl of pickles I had ever had.
After reading Kevin's post though it makes me want some ice-cream!!

I am usually a no, I shouldn't kind of person, but when I get really hungry late, (I must admit late for me is about 10:00) Arby's or Taco Bell usually do it for me. If I have a sweet tooth it has to be a warm brownie with a little milk poured over the top. Yum! Now I am hungry!
By the way Vicky, you did not tell us how you liked the buffalo wings.
