London Rocks!

London

London_tube

Happy new week, Blog friends!

I just got home from 3 great concerts with Rebecca St James, out in GA, MS and TX. I tried using one of my brand new songs Breath Of God and it got good feedback from the crowd, so thats encouraging! The events were part of the "SHE Tour" this Spring (www.sheevent.com) and were a blast to be part of!

In the signing line a little girl came up to me with a London teeshirt on - how cool is this?!

I told her I had a to snap a photo for my Blog, as it reminded me of my Homeland!

I know that many of you on here have visited England before, and some of you even live there now. So lets be touristy and share our England stories!!

- If you visited England, when did you go and what did you most enjoy seeing/doing?

- If you live there, where abouts and where are your favorite places in the UK?

- If you've never been, what would you like to see if you took a visit?

As we say in England "have a brilliant day, mate!"

Cheers,

Vicky

I've been to London twice and absolutely love it. It's time for another trip!

well, ive never been but if i ever go it will be to backpack through both england and scotland. so, im not sure what i would like to see. but thats what i want to do :)

Things I miss about living in England:
1.Beer.
2.Greenery.
3.Seabrook's Prawn Cocktail Crisps.
4.Friends and Family.

Things I don't miss...
1.Rain
2.It's blooming expensive.

When I said beer, I meant proper beer, you know, real ale-type beer. The kind of "I'll have a pint if drowned badger please" beer.

I also miss walks on the south downs and swimming in the River Teme near Ham Bridge, and the sound of the organ in Worcester Cathedral, and the beach at Rhoscolyn and Thornton's toffee and everything about Frontline Church, especially the people, and walking down Matthew Street in my lunch hour.

well, im a home grown english girl and i have to say i love it :)
i live in a little town kind of near exeter in devon. cute little place with loads of countryside!
i have to say that the weather has been amazing for the past two weeks! suns been out and its been baking! im even starting to brown!...(after burning first though!)
i love the beaches, little town markets, pub gardens in the summer. and i love dartmoor! you ever been walking on dartmoor vicks? its a hoot!
been to london a number of time, definately advise a trip to a west end theatre!
one of my favourite places has to be chester. its got a fab old sweet shop where they weigh out all the sweets on old scales! think snowdonia is pretty amazing too.
aw, its nice to have a chat bout england! sometimes i get bored of it here but it does have its good points!
glad the SHE tour went well. its cool you've ben able to be apart of that. its 7.15 here and im getting ready for work....but writing on here is obviously my priority!! lol!

As a Londoner myself; I love England so my best places would be:

-Picnic in Hyde Park, then go to Covant Garden for shopping + Dinner and then finish the night off with a trip to the theatre.

-Camping in Dorset, around the Swanage area; I also love Weymouth as it lends itself to some great walking up to Lulworth Cove, or to Portland. Also good for kayaking!

- Lake District, again some great walking.

-Hereford, beautiful city and good walking, kayaking etc around the river Wye.

- The West Country, 'cos I got a brand new combine harvester...

-Going out of England, there are some lovely places in Wales / Scotland.

I know there are many historic sites to visit, and I definitely want to see them someday, what I really want to do is visit with my friends Dave and Rosie Fellingham in Brighton. Since I first met them in 2002 I have wanted to go visit them. They are very special people. Some day!!

Hey cool! I'm going to London in three weeks for the second time now. To visit some friends and to go to the Passion Worldtour.

I've travelled the UK for 6 weeks last year, backpacking. Been to London, Gloucester, Manchester, Glasgow, Inverclyde, Inverness, Elgin, Belfast and Portsteward.

I really liked London, but the best place with spectacular landscape/views was Greenock, Schotland. Very pretty!

Can't wait to get back to London!!

Oh Vicky, the picture of Big Ben & the Eye is similar to the one I took :D same point of view and almost the same bus ;) http://tinyurl.com/5ud3ps

I spent a month in England touring around back in 1992. I went over to be the best man in a friends wedding.

A pastor from my church is currently a guest lecturer(sp?) at Cliff College in Manchester. We miss him terribly.

We went for our honeymoon. may 2000. We had a great time seeing the city! I wish we were able to see more of the countryside. I had some wonderful crepes there, we saw the Lion King for the first time, it was fun. H

I visited England in 2006 when i spent the summer at Oxford (Regents Park College) for a study abroad program. Through the program, I got to see different parts of England and Scotland, it was a great trip. I think the thing I missed since I've been back has been the countryside scenery, architecture and just walking around Oxford.

I was able to visit London, Oxford, Canterbury, Harlaxton, and other areas on a singing tour with our local philharmonic chorus in 2005...already close to 3 years ago! It was wonderful, and I'm ready to go back anytime.

I grew up in Northern Ireland, but my wife's family live in London. We live the US now, but will be visiting London in August for a couple of weeks. I do the tourist thing every time I go.

I've only been to London once for 1 week in 1998 as a 2nd honeymoon with my wife before we had our first of 3 daughters in 2000. I just talked with them last week about taking them someday. I most enjoyed sitting in on a session of Parliament, dinner on a glass bottom boat on the Thames River, a day trip to Leeds Castles including afternoon tea, visiting the Paddington Museum, riding the tube/underground, minding the gap, visiting the Tower of London, and shopping at Harrod's (my wife) and the Virgin Megastore (me) :O)

Well. I live in jolly old England, in a little village outside Oxford. One of the many awesome things about it is that I can literally step out of my back garden and into lush fields and yet hop on the nearest bus a 2 minute walk from my house and be in the centre of oxford in 25 minutes - makes shoping easily accessable =)!
Even though I have lived in England all my life I have to admit I havn't visited many of the tourist attractions. I've been to a few theatres in the west end, probably the tower of london, houses of parliment etc when I was little with school, but never ben on an open top bus in London or on the london eye. I really ought to one day. I've been to historic places such as Bath and been for many wet camping trips with the family in Devon and the Lake District. Well I have to say I love England and its Earl Grey Tea although would be the first to hop on a plane to Austrailia or somewhere hot at first oppertunity! Although the weather has been excellent over the last 2 weeks or so.
Well much love from sunny England!
xx

I was in England on my way to Africa - didn't get to see much as I had major jetlag, but it was SO cool - driving on the other side of the road, amazing English accents, Heathrow, etc... loved it!

I am going with a group in my church to South Africa in the summer and we have a 6 hour layover in London, so I really hope we get a chance to see at least something. I am really excited.

I went the other way...I'm English, but moved to California 6 years ago. I'm originally from Oxford, and in fact you and I have a friend in common Miss Beeching; I went to school for years with someone you roomed with several years ago.

Anyway...I love it when I go back. There's just no place like "home".

I visited England in 1984--I was 5 years old! I remember ducks and rain! I would love to go back and see some of the things my little 5 year old eyes missed.

I'm going to London this summer . I'm so excited about it .
I want to see Buckingham palace ,the Tower Bridge , and shop in Oxford street

sorry I havent commented in a while, I've been super busy with work and moving. and on top of that stress my band is breaking up after 2 years of good times. OH NOES!

if I went to england I would def try to find a good punk show in london somewhere.

Sorry to hear about your band breaking up, Linz! :o(

Wow, this topic started a lot of great conversation! Talking about travel makes me happy and a little wistful... Judging by this conversation, I guess *everybody* stops in London for a few hours on the way to Africa... :o)

I've only been in London for a few hours on a long layover at Heathrow. There wasn't much time, so I just headed downtown and walked around for a while. Took some pictures and ate some icecream. :o)

I'd really like to see Les Miserables there (if it's still playing). I met some cool English guys a couple of days ago at a hostel, and they had a few other suggestions of things to do while in the UK. I've got that written down someplace... I think they mentioned that Oxford is pretty great. I've also heard that London has a lot of really great free museums.

I love all the cool old buildings and there are so many really old things in Europe that are so interesting and also make for some great photos. Also, being in a place for a while where almost everybody has a cool accent...

Of course, it'd be great to get down to see Stratford-upon-Avon, and I think it'd be fun to do some shopping in London too. A lot of times lately, I'll travel someplace without a set plan of what I'm gonna do, and lots of good stuff ends up coming up. One of these days I'm gonna have to get over to England for a week or two and do a bit of that there. Actually, what would be really cool would be to do some studying there for a semester; maybe take a class in photography or something that could count toward an MFA in creative writing...

I suppose I've got to comment on a post about the UK. I'm currently living in Nottingham, though about to graduate so that might change(?). Having grown up in Kent, but within the M25 I love London so that's got to be my favourite place.

Some of the other best places have got to include Brighton, Cambridge, pretty much any proper village pub, the remote Scottish Islands, and a good game of cricket. I went to Trent Bridge yesterday for a bit of revision and somehow got my knee's sunburnt - English weather doesn't change!
